Ranchi, Oct 9: Several districts of Jharkhand, including the State capital are witnessing power crisis due to less availability of coal to power generation plants.
On Friday also, less power was received from the central quota, due to which the power cut continued throughout the day. The power demand in the state was 1520 MW, but the supply was only 1098 MW. In this way, 430 MW of electricity was cut.
Director Operations of Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited, KK Verma has appealed to the consumers of the state to exercise restraint for the next five days.
“Especially commercial and industrial establishments should not operate all the equipment at the same time during peak hours. Right now there is a shortage of electricity in the whole country due to lack of coal,” Verma said.
For uninterrupted supply in the capital, Ranchi Area Board MD Prabhat Kumar Srivastava held a meeting with all the engineers and asked them to complete all the repair works by October 10. He directed not to switch off electricity in any area for repairs from October 11 to 16. He also directed to make special deployment of electricians at the puja pandals from October 12 to 15.
