Jharkhand’s Thang-Ta instructors leave for national seminar in Rajasthan

Dhanbad, Aug 31: The Three member team of Thang-Ta Martial Arts instructors from Jharkhand left for Arwal (Rajasthan) on Wednesday to attend the three–day national seminar for trainers and scorers from which will be held form September 2 to 4.

The All India Thang-Ta Federation had selected four martial arts instructors from Jharkhand namely Ranjit Kesri,  Vikash Kumar, Krishna Kumar Sab (Dhanbad) and Sanju Kumar (Bokaro). Veteran martial arts instructor Ranjit Kesri opted his name out of the team at the last movement due to personal reasons.

The All India Thang-Ta Federation has organised the training cum seminar for instructors across the country to train them about Time Scoring Result (TSR). Since Thang-Ta was included in Khelo India Youth Games, the importance of this martial arts , which originateds from Manipur, has  increased in the country.

Jharkhand Thang-Ta Association president Ranjit Kesri said that till date manual scoring of Thang-Ta was in competition but now national federation has focused on computerise the scoring system in order to promote this Indian indigenous martial arts at the international level.

On the selection of Vikash Kumar, Krishna Kumar Sab and Sanju Kumar in the Jharkhand team, Ranjit Keshri said that the trio consists of very senior instructors and had participated in Thang-Ta national campionsjip twice in Imphal (Manipur) in 2020 and 2021.
