Jharkhand’s unemployment rate drops to 8.9% in January

Ranchi, Feb 17: The unemployment rate of Jharkhand has steeply dropped down by 8.4%, taking the unemployment rate from 17.3% in December 2021 to 8.9% in January 2022. ]

The information came to the fore after the CMIE (Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy) published the report on the unemployment rate.

According to CMIE, the unemployment rate of the country has been recorded at 7.6 per cent till February 16, 2022. It has an urban unemployment rate of 7.7% and a rural unemployment rate of 7.5%.

For the first time since July 2020 (during the corona phase), the unemployment rate of the state has fallen below 9 per cent.

On the other hand, neighbouring states such as Bihar have an unemployment rate of 13.3%, while Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh remained at 3%, Madhya Pradesh with 3.2%, Odisha 1.8% and West Bengal 6.4%.

The lowest unemployment rate in the country has been recorded in Telangana and Gujarat. Telangana had an unemployment rate of 0.6% in January, while that of Gujarat was 1.0%.

Jharkhand’s unemployment rate in January 2022 has been lower than that of neighbouring state Bihar as well as many other states in the country. However, the situation in some neighbouring states is better than in Jharkhand.
