New Delhi, Feb 18: Three Hizbul Mujahideen overground workers (OGWs) were detained in the Kulgam area of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, police said.

According to them, the people detained have been named as Mohammad Abass Wagay, Gowhar Shafi Mir and Nisar Rehman Sheikh.

A police spokesperson said that on Friday night, after information about the transit of anti-national elements carrying weapons and ammunition, authorities set up a roadblock at the Daderkoot-Alamganj border in this area.

Three people who were travelling on a motorcycle were intercepted, he said.

“During a search, police recovered one pistol, two magazines and 13 live rounds from the possession of the suspects,” the spokesperson said.

“Upon sustained interrogation, they revealed that they were involved in terror crimes and were providing support to terror organisation Hizbul Mujahideen,” the spokesperson said.
