Ranchi, Oct 15: JMM is not happy with Election Commission of India (ECI) declaring Himachal Pradesh election days four days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programme in the state while delaying Gujarat election date. He said the step has been taken to benefit a particular party and this is not good for democracy.
“Ab ECI Ka full form Election Commission of India ki jagah Election Choice of Individual ho gaya hai (Now full form of ECI has become Election Choice of Individual in place of Election Commission of Indian Commission of India,” observed senior leader Supriyo Bhattacharya addressing a press conference on behalf of the party at party office in Bariatu.
Before sharing his observation about ECI the senior JMM leader explained how the constitutional body is working against the spirit behind establishing it for conducting free and fair elections since 2014.
The JMM leader also expressed his strong exception taking ECI’s decision of conducting election in Himachal Pradesh in one phase.
“Topography of Jharkhand is the same as Himachal Pradesh. In Jharkhand election was conducted in eight phases while in Himachal Pradesh the ECI has planned to conduct election in one phase,” Bhattacharya said.
The JMM leader Bhattacharya on the occasion said how the constitutional body has become partial in taking action.
“Hamare liye Gopniyata Aur Deendayal Marg Ke liye Atmiyata (Privacy for us and affinity for Deendayala Marg),” Bhattacharya observed before explaining how the ECI has silently took cognizance in the complaint against JMM while maintained silence over complaint sent by JMM. The party leader urged Supreme Court judges to take cognizance of the matter.
Bhattacharya on the delay being made in announcement of Gujarat election said that it was a matter of concern that despite remaining in power for 27 years BJP needed drama or stunt before declaration of election in the state.
Referring Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement saying he is a businessman and knowing well how to earn profit, JMM leader quotes Chanakya saying ‘Ji Rajaiya Me Raja Vyapari Hota Hai Us Rajya Mein Praja Bhikari Hota Hai (in a state where the king is a trader, the people in that state are beggars).
