New Delhi, Sept 7: Judge DY Chandrachud said on Wednesday that the Constitutional bench he heads would be the “green bench” and asked the attorneys not to submit any physical paperwork or documents.

“We will keep this a completely green bench so there would be no papers. Please don’t carry papers,” he said to the lawyers.

When a lawyer expressed difficulty using the technology, Justice Chandracud said Supreme Court registrars and IT branch officials are available to train lawyers on Saturdays on how to use this technology to present arguments.

The panel subsequently ordered the Registry to digitize the paper books and make them available to the panel and parties. Bench observations are made during a hearing on a dispute between the Delhi government and the Center over the control of administrative services in the nation’s capital.

Three other cases listed before the Draft Constitution by judges DY Chandrachud, MR Shah, Krishna Murari, Hima Kohli and PS Narasimha related to Maharashtra political crisis dispute, effect of Section 6A on public rights and the effect of extending the benefit of reservation and appointment to the Legislative Council under Section 33
after the initial period of operation, which is 10 years.
