New Delhi, July 7: Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia, a minister for the Union, took on the additional responsibility of the Steel Ministry on Thursday.
Currently, Scindia is in charge of the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The third steel minister in the current Modi administration is the 51-year-old BJP leader who sits in the Rajya Sabha as Madhya Pradesh’s representative.
“As per the directions of the Prime Minister I am assuming the charge as Minister of Steel. I will try my best to discharge this new responsibility with the blessings of all well wishers,” said Scindia in a tweet.
“Took the additional charge from @RCP_Singh Ji of Union Steel Ministry. I will do my best to fulfill the aspirations of the country by discharging this responsibility given by the top leadership to the fullest potential,” he tweeted.
@SteelMinIndia pic.twitter.com/vKx1xlu3Ix

In the presence of key ministry officials, including Steel Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, he assumed leadership. Scindia will have back-to-back meetings with ministry officials and departments on his first day as minister of steel. Additionally, according to an official, he will host meetings for the chiefs of all steel PSUs.
Ram Chandra Prasad Singh, who resigned from the position on Wednesday, one day before the end of his Rajya Sabha tenure, is succeeded by him.
In a Cabinet reshuffle last year on July 8, Ram Chandra Prasad Singh, a former bureaucrat and Rajya Sabha member, took over for Dharmendra Pradhan, who was given the ministry of education together with the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship.
