Lucknow, June 6: After scanning hours of CCTV and video material in connection with fights and stone pelting reported from Kanpur last Friday, the Kanpur Police have released the images of 40 persons on Monday. The authorities believe these peoples were involved in the incident on Friday, which resulted in multiple injuries.

The identity of those who offer any information about these 40 alleged rioters will be protected, according to the police, who issued a grid of these 40 guys.

The Uttar Pradesh Police, according to news agency PTI, have decided to put up hoardings of these men – the main suspects in the violence – in prominent locations in and around the affected areas.

Officers told PTI that the hoardings will include the phone numbers of Station House Officers and top police officials so that people may pass on information about the suspects.

“25 hoardings with photographs of about 20 key accused, who allegedly took part in the June 3 violence, will be put up at prominent places in and around the affected areas and neighbouring pockets,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Pramod Kumar, told the agency.

Last Friday in Kanpur’s Parade Chowk, a group of individuals tried to compel businesses to close their doors after remarks made by BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma against Prophet Mohammed in a TV debate, resulting in violent fights and stone pelting. So far, 38 people have been arrested in connection with the case.
