New Delhi: In a bold move, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide free electricity in all NDA-ruled states before the Delhi Assembly elections, offering to campaign for the BJP if this demand is met. The statement was made during his address at the ‘Janta Ki Adalat’ public gathering.
Kejriwal criticized the BJP’s “double engine” model of governance, calling it a “double loot and double corruption” system. He predicted that the party would face defeat in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, pointing to the results of exit polls that, according to him, suggest the collapse of BJP governments in these states.
“I’ll Campaign for BJP If Modi Provides Free Electricity”
Issuing a direct challenge, Kejriwal stated, “I challenge PM Modi to provide free electricity in all 22 BJP-ruled states before the Delhi Assembly elections in February. If he does, I will campaign for the BJP.”
Criticism of BJP’s Governance
Kejriwal also accused the BJP of being anti-poor, citing various instances in Delhi, such as the removal of bus marshals, data entry operators, and the stoppage of home guards’ salaries. He further claimed that democracy is being undermined in Delhi, alleging that it is “under the LG’s rule.”
With the Delhi Assembly elections approaching, Kejriwal’s challenge sets the stage for a heated political battle, highlighting the AAP’s focus on free electricity as a key electoral issue.
