London: A group of Khalistani extremists attempted to disrupt the visit of India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in London, escalating their protest into a security breach. As Jaishankar was leaving the Chatham House venue, a protester ran towards his convoy and tore the Indian national flag in front of police officers.
A video of the incident, now viral on social media, shows a man aggressively rushing toward the minister’s convoywhile officers initially hesitated to act. The protester tore the Indian tricolour, while others shouted pro-Khalistani slogans. Moments later, police intervened and detained him and other extremists.
Another video shows Khalistani extremists protesting outside the venue where Jaishankar was participating in a discussion, waving flags and chanting slogans.
Incident During Jaishankar’s UK Visit
The attack occurred during S Jaishankar’s official visit to the UK from March 4 to 9. Earlier, he held high-level discussions at Chevening House with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy. Their talks covered a wide range of bilateral issues, including strategic coordination, trade negotiations, political cooperation, education, technology, and people-to-people exchanges.
Jaishankar on Kashmir Issue
During his address at Chatham House, Jaishankar was questioned about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s potential role in leveraging Donald Trump’s peace efforts to resolve the Kashmir issue with Pakistan.
Jaishankar firmly defended India’s approach, rejecting any need for third-party mediation. He stated that India had already taken decisive steps, including the abrogation of Article 370, economic development in Jammu and Kashmir, and high voter turnout in elections.
However, he asserted that the unresolved part of the issue lay beyond India’s control.
“The part we are waiting for is the return of the stolen part of Kashmir, which is under an illegal Pakistani occupation. When that’s done, I assure you, Kashmir solved,” Jaishankar declared.
India’s Strong Stand Against Khalistani Elements
The attack on S Jaishankar highlights the increasing Khalistani activities in the UK, raising concerns over diplomatic security. The Indian government has been vocal against such extremist elements, urging strong action from UK authorities to prevent such incidents.
