Deoghar, April 30: The Deoghar district administration organised a brief function on Saturday where the kin of deceased persons in the Trikut ropeway tragedy was handed over a cheque of Rs. 25 lakh each as compensation.
The Trikut ropeway tragedy happened on April 10 where 3 persons lost their lives and several others were injured.
This ex-gratia amount has been given by the Damodar Ropeway Infra company, the owner of the ropeway. On the occasion, Jharkhand Tourism Minister Hafizul Hassan Ansari, Agriculture Minister Badal Patralekh, Deoghar MLA Narayan Das and Deoghar DC Manjunath Bhajantri and SDPO Pawan Kumar were present.
Talking to the media, Jharkhand Tourism Minister Hafizul Hassan assured that within two months, a full enquiry of the accident will be conducted and the guilty of the accident will be put under the scanner.
On the question of re-opening the ropeway, the tourism minister said that after the enquiry and addressing the safety and security measures, the ropeway will be reopened.
Agriculture Minister Badal said that the government will focus on the safety and security of tourists before reopening the ropeway. He also said that both the ministers will be the first riders after the ropeway resumes.
Apart from the family of the Trikut tragedy, kin of other accident, in which 6 persons died of suffocation in under construction toilet -tank in Devipur, were also given the compensation of Rs. 4 lakhs. The deceased were two family members of the landlord, one contractor and his two sons and a laborer. The accident happened on 9th August 2020.
