Kolhan University readies for 5th convocation, Jharkhand Governor to honour students

Jamshedpur, April 7: The 12- year- old Kolhan University is all set to host its 5th convocation function tomorrow.

The ceremony will take place at the Pillai Hall in Chaibasa.

University officials said as many as 205 gold medalists and 15 candidates who had completed their PHDs would be feted during the convocation function.

The chief guest at the convocation function will be Jharkhand governor and chancellor of state universities Ramesh Bais.

According to the university officials, all necessary preparations including security have been made for the function which will begin at 1 pm. The convocation will include both graduate and postgraduate students.

Around 9,000 students will receive degrees for which 25 centres have been made in Chaibasa, Jamshedpur, Ghatshila, Noamundi, Manoharpur, Chakradharpur and Seraikela-, for their distribution.

The university had already constituted various committees – organisation and core, souvenir, gown, seating arrangement, reception, finance, decoration and refreshment, volunteer, discipline and media in-charge – and divided duties to make sure that the arrangements are up to the mark. Teachers and students have been assigned their share of work too.

More than 50 members of the NCC and NSS wings of colleges in Jamshedpur and Chaibasa will be made volunteers at the venue of the convocation function.
