Ranchi, Oct 14: Kolkata police allegedly forged the signature of the son of Jharkhand High Court advocate Rajiv Kumar on the arrest memo and even seized his smart phone without completing legal processes. Kolkata police submitted case related documents before the local court including an arrest memo bearing the signature of Abhed Kumar who is the son of Rajiv Kumar. He was arrested at 9 PM on 31st July. But Abhed Kumar is said to have stated before the agency that he never signed any police paper including an arrest memo of his father. His signature was fabricated.
This supports the allegation of Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Kolkata police for playing a dubious role in lodging FIR against Rajiv Kumar and getting him trapped along with cash to extend undue help to complainant Amit Agrawal. The fact has emerged during investigation of the cash for PIL case by the ED.
An FIR was lodged on the basis of a written complaint of Kolkata based businessman Amit Agrawal and Kolkata police arrested Rajiv Kumar on the night of July 31st from Quest Mall under Hare Street police station area along with Rs 50 Lakh cash. Kolkata police claimed that he had extorted this money from Amit Agrawal to give him respite in a shell company related PIL. Rajiv Kumar along with his son Abhed Kumar had gone to Kolkata on the same day via Alliance Air flight and their travel was arranged by Sonu Agrawal who is a terror funding suspect. The ED also took up this case for investigation.
Father and son stayed at a hotel and then left for the Quest Mall. Here he had a coffee and some snacks with his father, Sonu Agrawal and one other person whom he did not know. After a few minutes Sonu Agrawal told Rajiv Kumar that somebody was waiting for him in a Mercedes car on the fifth floor of the mall. Rajiv Kumar left for the fifth floor and said that he would return within 10 minutes. He also left his mobile phone.
Abhed Kumar said that he sensed foul play after he heard Sonu Agrawal talking to someone over phone requesting not to harm Rajiv Kumar. Sonu Agrawal asked Abhed Kumar to rush to the fifth floor and look for his father as something untoward happened to him. Abhed Kumar said that he could not trace his father and when he returned to the coffee shop again Sonu Agrawal too had left the place. Later on he got a call from sub inspector Sujay Sultan and informed that Rajiv Kumar is under police custody. Abhed Kumar said that he was taken to a police station in a police car where he could meet his father for a few minutes. His mobile phone was taken away by the police.
