Lucknow, March 25: Yogi Adityanath will have two deputies this time also. Keshav Maurya, who lost the election, has been retained, but Brajesh Pathak has been appointed to replace Dinesh Sharma, who did not run in the election.
In Yogi Adityanath’s first ministry, Pathak, a major Brahmin leader, served as Law Minister. He was a former Lok Sabha MP who converted to the BJP in 2017 from Mayawati’s BSP.
In addition to this, Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, Anil Rajbhar, Jitin Prasada, Rakesh Sachan, Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary, Jaivir Singh, Dharam Pal Singh, Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ took oath as Ministers in the Uttar Pradesh government.
Arvind Kumar Sharma, Yogendra Upadhyaya, Ashish Patel and Sanjay Nishad also took oath as Ministers in the Uttar Pradesh government.
Following the election results on March 10 and a flurry of meetings between the top leadership of the BJP in Delhi and Adityanath, the announcement of Maurya and Pathak ended over two weeks of suspense.
PM Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and several Union Ministers were present at the ceremony in Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium. Chief Ministers of the BJP ruled states and party leaders also attended the oath-taking ceremony.
