Lakhimpur, Oct.9: Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra, has appeared before the police after being accused of running over farmers in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri. He didn’t show up for the summons yesterday owing to health issues, according to his father.

A committee formed by the UP Police is interrogating him at the moment. Meanwhile, the Kheri police line has been converted into a cantonment. Heavy deployment of police forces has been made in view of security.

The UP police have filed a murder charge against Ashish Mishra, but he has yet to be apprehended. Despite the fact that the Union Minister owns the SUV that ran over the farmers, he insists his son was not in it.

The SUV ran over a group of demonstrators opposing the arrival of junior Home Minister Ajay Mishra and UP’s Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya in the UP district on Sunday, killing eight persons, including four farmers.
