Patna, Sept 23: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad and chief minister Nitish Kumar are planning to meet with interim Congress president Sonia Gandhi on September 25 in New Delhi in an effort to further their drive to forge opposition unity ahead of the 2024 parliamentary elections.
The chief minister will reportedly also be present at the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD)-organized “Samman Diwas” rally in Fatehabad, Haryana, on September 25, which would commemorate the birthday of former deputy prime minister Choudhary Devi Lal.
A demonstration of opposition unity ahead of the Lok Sabha elections is being promoted by the event, which will be attended by several prominent opposition figures.

According to sources, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the deputy chief minister, will join Kumar during the occasion.
The ailing RJD chairman had stated on Wednesday that he and Kumar would soon meet with the acting Congress president to discuss strategies for assembling a wider opposition alliance to challenge the BJP-led NDA in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
In addition, he asserted that the BJP seeks to undermine social cohesion on account of the real problems that people are dealing with.
Lalu Prasad is anticipated to depart from Patna for Delhi in the upcoming days before his planned trip to Singapore for medical advice, according to RJD sources.
