Chatra, Aug 6: The Central government’s ambitious project Greenfield Expressway connecting Varanasi to Kolkata via Jharkhand is witnessing fast disposal of land-related issues so as to give pace to the land acquisition in Chatra. With officials now taking part in gram sabhas starting on Tuesday and disposing of all land-related objections on the spot, the plan is to acquire land for the purpose as soon as possible.
Sources said this expressway is passing through 67 villages of four blocks including Chatra, Simaria, Huntergunj and Pathalgada. Officials said from Aug 1 to Aug 11, gram sabhas will take place in seven villages of Chatra, eleven of Huntergunj and fifteen of Simaria block. A total of 33 villages will have gram sabhas till Aug 11 with officials and employees of the district land acquisition department taking part with all land-related records. The first meeting took place in Pandeypura of Huntergunj block where all objections of raiyats were disposed on the spot.
Officials said this expressway will start from Varanasi of Uttar Pradesh entering Bihar, Jharkhand and ending in Bengal. The expressway will pass through Chatra, Hazaribag, Ramgarh and Bokaro in Jharkhand. According to them, this expressway will pass through twenty-five villages of five blocks in neighbouring Hazaribag town.
Deputy Collector of Land Reforms, Gorang Mahto said gram sabhas have started for the verification of land of raiyats as well as disposing of their objections if any. Even the presence of Mukhiya and other local representatives is a must in the gram sabha so that no problem comes to them in the future. Once land-related work is over, compensation against the acquired land will be transferred into the account of raiyats, he added.
