Daltonganj, Aug 29: Dhanpatiya Devi demanded water supply for her piggery that she plans to raise at Mahudand. She made this demand today at the Janta Durbar hosted by DC Shashi Ranjan.

The DC said her water issue would be settled once the ‘Har Ghar Nal Yojna’ is operational there. The woman looked blank.

The woman said it takes Rs 240 for both sides journey per traveller from Mahudand to the DC office in Daltonganj.

A handicapped Prakash Yadav had a different problem. His co-villagers have blocked his passage. The DC instructed the CO to resolve it. Yadav was asked not to come over to Daltonganj but to phone the DC straight because of his disabilities.

Firoz Ansari had a typical problem. He wanted regularisation of his land of which he has no settlement paper of the government.

Muslims have started coming to Janta Durbar more now as today came Jawed Alam, Ishteyak, Serajul Haque, Salim etc. Khursheeda Bibi began to weep in the Janta Durbar. She said her husband had deserted her for 20 years and she is not a pensioner of any kind. The DC granted her pension. The Muslim petitioners express their grievances as boldly as anyone and they are heard.

Mostly it’s land issue that outnumbers other issues. Every second petition that comes to the DC in the Janta Durbar is related to the land dispute.

Words like ‘Dabang’ still echo in the feudalistic Palamu even now in the Janta Durbar where petitioners drop this word before the DC without any fear or so.

Jawed Alam said he and two other families of his faith live in a village surrounded by people of other faiths. Here the DC asked Alam to narrate his problem only.
