Funeral of CDS Rawat, wife Madhulika performed with full military honours

India’s first CDS was accorded a sombre 17-gun salute in line with protocol.

New Delhi, Dec 10: The last rites of CDS General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat was performed on Friday at Brar Square, Delhi Cantonment, at 5 pm with full military honours. The mortal remains of CDS Rawat and his wife Madhulika were cremated on the same pyre.

India’s first CDS was accorded a sombre 17-gun salute in line with protocol. CDS’s daughters Kritika and Tarini performed all the rituals of their parent’s cremation. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, army officials and other dignitaries are present during the procession.

The funeral procession was started from his residence at Kamraj road from 2 pm. 5/11 Gorkha Rifles were looking after all the arrangements of the last rites of General Rawat who was commissioned in the unit and also went ahead to command it. About 800 service personal took part in the cremation ceremony.

Brigadier Lidder was cremated earlier today. Notably, 13 people including CDS Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat died on an IAF Chopper crash near Tamil Nadu’s Coonoor.
