Hazaribag, July 21: Last rites of a Langur performed in the Nagi village in the Vishnugarh block has become the talk of the town. The Langur died in the village making villagers to perform the last rites according to Hindu customs. Wrapped in a saffron cloth, the body was taken out assuming the form of Hanuman with slogans of Jai Shri Ram. Even a flower sapling was planted by the villagers at the place where the langur was buried in his memory.
Villager Thaneshwar Mahto said a feast will be organised on the 12th day of the death of langur as a part of shradh. Social worker Chetlal Mahto said that on Thursday evening a Peepal sapling was planted in the village. The children saw the body of a Langur under it. Hearing to children, villager Budhan Mahto passing from there spotted the body of the Langur there. With the help of villagers, the dead Langur was picked and brought in front of the temple. People treated the Langur as Hanuman and took care of it the whole night with devotion.
In the morning, villagers gathered and after consulting the priest, performed the last rites according to Hindu rituals. A large number of villagers joined the last rites. Villagers agreed to throw a feast on the 12th day of the death of Langur.
