Ranchi: On the occasion of the 79th Independence Day, a grand ceremony was held at the Jharkhand Police Headquarters where DGP Anurag Gupta hoisted the national flag. Extending greetings to police personnel, media, and attendees, he paid tribute to the freedom fighters whose sacrifices secured the nation’s independence.

Decisive Action Against Naxalism and Organized Crime

The DGP outlined major achievements of the police in the first half of 2025, stating that 197 Naxalites were arrested, 10 surrendered, and 17 were killed in encounters. The state also mourned the loss of four brave officers during these operations. Additionally, 12 organized crime members were arrested, and the ATS nabbed five active members of the banned terror group Hizb ut-Tahrir.

Crackdown on Narcotics and Cybercrime

In the first six months, 484 individuals were arrested for drug trafficking, with illegal narcotics worth ₹34.09 crore seized and 27,000 acres of opium cultivation destroyed. Over 700 cybercriminals were arrested, ₹16 crore was frozen via the cyber helpline 1930, and ₹80 lakh was returned to victims by court order. The “Pratibimb” app played a key role in catching 474 cybercriminals.

Public Engagement and Women’s Safety Initiatives

Public grievance programs in January and April received over 4,000 complaints, with nearly 3,500 resolved on the spot. To enhance women’s safety, dedicated helpdesks, women’s police stations, public helpline numbers, and the “Mahila Shakti Commando” unit have been established across districts.
