Daltonganj, Nov. 16: The first day of the one and a half month long ‘Aapke Adhikar-Aap Ki Sarkar-Aap K Dwar’ programme started on a note of hope at all season naxal hot bed Herhanj in Latehar district. The programme was held at the Panchayat Sachivalaya Herhanj.
The turnout was impressive at Herhanj where one estimates strength of the locals at around 500, 50% percent of them women with a couple of disabled people attending the programme which wore a look of any other festive occasion.
This new version of the time worn Janta Durbar has come after March 2020 because of the coronavirus saw chance to get pension. ‘Vidhwa pension’ and ‘Virdha pension’ are much in demand and here at Herhanj when the report last came in it was 18 applications for these two and counting.
DC Latehar Abu Imran knew people would like to go home with some such things in their hands that others can see. Rugs came handy for the DC as a data entry operator Neman Rana at Herhanj told lagatar.24com that 40 rugs were distributed today by the DC and his battery of officers there as most of them appeared there were in the winter warm clothes themselves.
Mudrak Yadav was the recipient of a rug and his joys knew no bounds. So was an old lady. The beneficiaries of the rugs looked most needy.
Only 5 applications came for the issuance of the MGNREGA job card and this is to be looked into as to whether Herhanj block is saturated one with MGNREGA or eligible locals just have no craze for working at the MGNREG site all for delay in wages payment etc.
Demand for ‘Aawas’ was high as sources said 15 applications came for it.
Two cooks of the mid day meal complained about irregularity in their payment of remuneration and requested them to be removed. One was the case of the family benefit said sources.
About vaccination, DC Latehar Abu Imran said it was too good in numbers and could possibly be over 200 also.
One did not hear about ‘dakhil kharij’ or malaria menace in the area.
Sources said three important departments; forest, mining and excise are the ones which used to do the vanishing trick during the old Janta Durbar and there is no hope if these three departments make any headway in this new christened government programme also.
