Daltonganj, Nov. 27: Latehar district’s two far flung locations, Herhanj and Mahuadanr, have been given more hands to pace up the vaccination drive there.
Civil surgeon (CS) Latehar, Dr Haren Chandra Mahto informed today that under the directive of the DC Latehar, Abu Imran, these two locations will now have more vaccination teams.
He said Herhanj till now had only 5 teams of vaccinators which following DC’s directive has been increased to 10. Similarly, there were 17 vaccination teams operative in Mahuadanr which are now 25 in number.
Asked if there will be any crunch of ANMs, the CS said, “We have a good number of the ANMs with us. If we need verifiers, we will place them here at these two locations from the adjoining health centres.”
Late start of the vaccination drive and early winding up are the two issues that have plagued the vaccination rate in Latehar, Palamu and Garhwa.
When this query was put before CS Mahto, he said: “We have been asking for a timely start of the vaccination. We have further fine tuned in the fleet of the alternative vaccine deliverer to be on the job well in time by reaching the vaccine at the centres without any delay.”
Ved Prakash, a health official in Latehar, said: “Our team was out in the hard to reach area of Khambikhas where our verifier Yuvraj and community health officer Khushbu Kumari had to do a lot of motivational talk to get people ready there to take the vaccine.”
Community health officer Khushbu Kumari talek to lagatar24.com on phone and said that getting villagers ready for the vaccination is a work of patience.
Yuvraj said, “We gave 20 doses here and we had started here with a goat grazer Bhuvneshwar Singh on the hillock whose wife too was vaccinated.”
Around two dozen villages are located at the foothill of the hillock here but the good thing about this hamlet was that many here had had their vaccination.
Notably, Latehar is battling to retain at least 50 percent of its target of vaccination a day which if it goes on can help tide over its huge backlog in the numbers.
