Ranchi, Nov 27: Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth has said that that the state government was postponing the panchayat elections as it was terrified of the outcome.
His observation came during the protest in front of the Namkum block office.
The main opposition party of Jharkhand, BJP, staged a demonstration at block offices across the state to mount pressure on the state government to hold the Panchayat election and cancel the JPSC preliminary test (PT) held in September this year.
Seth alleged that the intention of the government is not to give constitutional rights to common people and give jobs to poor youths of the state.
“The state government is continuously postponing the panchayat election as they are terrified because 3.5 crore people of the state want to overthrow the present government,” Seth said.
“The Election Commission is just waiting for the government’s order, after which the process of conducting elections in the state will be started and also informed the State Government in this regard that the Commission has completed the preparations for the Panchayat elections in the State,” Seth further said.
Election Commissioner DK Tiwari earlier this month said that 45 days are required for Panchayat elections and the Election Commission has completed its preparation to hold elections.
For conducting Panchayat elections, 53480 polling stations have been finalized across the state. Through Panchayat elections, 4345 gram panchayats, 53479 Ward members, 5341 Panchayat Samiti and 536 Zilla Parishad members will be elected in 264 blocks. The maximum number of polling stations is 4460 in Giridih and the lowest polling station is 803 in Lohardaga as determined by the commission. In Panchayat elections, a maximum of 344 Mukhiyas will be elected from Giridih and a minimum of 81 Mukhiyas will be elected from Lohardaga.
