Dhanbad, Sept 13: Tundi JMM MLA Mathura Prasad Mahto has been nominated as the new president of the Law College Dhanbad Governing Body in place of BJP Sadar MLA Raj Sinha.
Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) has formed a new Governing Body (GB) for the crisis-ridden Law College following the resignation of BJP MLA Raj Sinha to end the month-long dispute which plagued the academic activities of the institution.
As per the notification issued by the BBMKU registrar Vikash Kumar, Dr Himanshu Shekhar Choudhary who is the assistant professor PG English department cum general secretary of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University Teachers Association (BBMKUTA), has been nominated as university representative cum new secretary of the ad-hoc committee in place of Rahul Mahto.

Besides it, the university has also changed principal Prof Amresh Choudhary and endorsed the name of Prof Kamal Kishore in his place. The post of the principal had always been a bone of contention between the ex-GB President Raj Sinha and Secretary Rahul Mahto. Raj Sinha had appointed Amresh Choudhary while Rahul Mahto replaced him with Kamal Kishore without taking the GB’s consent.
Rattled by the dispute, one of the members of Governing Body Prof P Shekhar had resigned last month.
However, Rahul Mahto, who is the grandson of late MP and Jharkhand movement founder Binod Bihari Mahto, has been nominated to the committee as a donor member. Indu Rani will be the state government representative on the committee.
When contacted, BBMKU Teachers Association general secretary Prof Himanshu Shekhar Choudhary said that he has not received any copy of the university nomination so far. “I was out of the district so I have no information about it. I would of course comment on accepting the responsibility after mulling over the proposal,” he said.
Notably, Prof Choudhary is considered a non-controversial figure in the university. Since he had refused the offer of the university for different posts in the past, it is still suspense in the university circle whether he would accept the responsibility (as secretary of Law College) or not.
