New Delhi, Aug 6: The prosecution of six people charged in connection with the North-East Delhi racial riots of 2020, during which a man died after being shot, has been approved by Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena.
The investigation revealed that the riots in Delhi’s North-East District were the result of a broad conspiracy that was devised in order to democratically oppose the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
The current case concerns the shooting death of Shahid alias Allah Mehar, 25, on February 24, 2020. He lived in Gali No. 17 in New Mustafabad.
In the case FIR No. 84/2020 filed on March 1, 2020 at police station Dayal Pur, Delhi against Mohd Firoz, Chand Mohd, Rais Khan, Md Junaid, Irshad, and Akil Ahmed for the commission of offenses punishable under sections 153 A and 505 of the Indian Penal Code, the Lieutenant Governor granted prosecution sanction.
