Jamshedpur, Aug 8: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of light rain in most parts of Jharkhand today.
The monsoon activity was normal over the state during the past 24 hours.
The forecast for Ranchi indicated a generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.
Meanwhile, the cyclonic circulation over south Bihar and neighbourhood was today lying over north Bangladesh at 0.9 Km above mean sea level with a trough aloft roughly along Lat. 90°E to the north of 25°N between 1.5 km and 2.1 km above mean sea level.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Amritsar, Karnal, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Bhagalpur, Malda and thence eastwards towards Manipur.
The good spell of rain during the past few days has brought down the state’s rain deficit to 37 %.
Against a normal of 581 mm, the state has so far received 367 mm of rain, resulting in a 37 per cent deficit.
