Jamshedpur, Aug 9: Light showers with thunder and lightning are expected at many places across Jharkhand today.
Weathermen at IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre ruled out heavy rain over Jharkhand during the next 72 hours.
According to weathermen, the monsoon activity was normal over the state during the past 24 hours.
Overcast conditions prevailed in most parts of the state today with intermittent rains at some places.
The western end of the monsoon trough at mean sea level was running along the foothills of the Himalayas and the eastern end passing through Baharaich, Gorakhpur, Supaul, Cooch Behar and thence eastwards towards Manipur.
Jharkhand’s rain deficit as of today stood at 36 per cent. Against a normal of 590 mm, the state has so far received 379 mm of rain, resulting in deficient rainfall.
Weathermen were hopeful that rainfall later this month would further help in making up the rain loss.
