Jamshedpur, Aug 17: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of light to moderate rain in isolated places over Jharkhand today.
Weathermen said the monsoon trough was passing through Purulia in neighbouring West Bengal today.
The local forecast for Ranchi suggested one or two spells of rain today. According to weathermen, most places would witness restricted rainfall activity today.
Rainfall statistics revealed that several places witnessed moderate rain during the past 24 hours.
The good spell of rain caused by two back-to-back low-pressure systems during the past few days helped in bringing down the state’s rain deficit figure to 35 per cent.
Against a normal of 668.6 mm, the state has so far received 432.3 mm, a deficit of 35 per cent.
Weathermen said another low-pressure system was developing over the Bay of Bengal which is expected to trigger heavy rain on August 19 and 20.
