Hazaribag, Dec.13: Ranjeet Kaur Sandhu, a descendant of freedom fighter Kahar Singh came to Hazaribag from London with her barrister husband Ashok Kumar to learn facts related to her great grandfather. Freedom fighter Kahar Singh was a resident of Sainiwal village of Ludhiana and kept in the Hazaribag central jail where he died in 1920.

His family didn’t get much information about his captivity to death in the Hazaribag central jail which is now known as Loknayak Jai Prakash Narayan central jail. Now the third generation of Kahar Singh who is Ranjeet Kaur Sandhu came to Hazaribag in search of the facts related to him. Sandhu visited the central jail with her husband and met officials requesting for all records related to him. Officials assured of providing the details demanding time in this regard.

The duo also met Sachidanand Pandey who is descendant of Shahid Jai Mangal Pandey. Pandey briefed them about the contribution of Jai Mangal Pandey and showed them various records to his belongings. He even gifted them a book written on Jai Mangal Pandey published recently.

Sachidanand said he assured the couple of all help from his side in getting records related to Kahar Singh. The couple left for London but will visit again so as to get the records from the jail authorities.
