Ranchi, July 15: The 15 devotees from Ranchi who were stuck in Amarnath during the horrifying cloudburst safely returned to Ranchi on Friday. They were welcomed by Ranchi MLA CP Singh who washed their feet. The devotees believe that Lord Shiva saved their lives.

Vijay Kumar, one of the returnees said, “We had just left after having darshan before the rain started to pour. We were resting on our tents whereas some people were attending the evening aarti and darshan. Suddenly, it started to rain heavily and the tent in which other were got completely destroyed. It rained for 15 to 20 minutes due to which the glacier melted.”

Another returnee Satyendra Kumar explained that it was raining so heavily that everything around started to get submerged. Eight of the bags, which had money, were washed away in the flood.

“Indian soldiers and CRPF personnel helped us. They directed us to get out of that place immediately. There was stampede everywhere and people started to run without shoes or slippers.

Ranchi MLA CP Singh said that the manner in which the incident took place near the Amarnath cave was quite heartbreaking.

“It was not possible to communicate with the people of Ranchi stuck at there at that time, then later on we received information that they all are safe. It is the grace of Baba Bholenath that all the devotes came back safely. Indian Army and CRPF jawans have also helped the devotees a lot.”

Naveen Kumar Kesari, another returnee said, “At the time when the accident happened, we were returning from the cave. Suddenly small stones started rolling and I was injured by a big stone. At that time, CRPF jawan saved my life and rescued me.”
