Deoghra, Oct 1: The lumpy skin disease virus has sneaked into the Deoghar district as cattle have been found infected.
3 out of 40 samples sent to the NISHAD lab in Bhopal have been found positive. It has been confirmed by the report issued by the animal husbandry department of Jharkhand.
Talking to Lagatar24.com, District Animal Husbandry Officer Dr Kaplil Prasad confirmed the total number of infected cases in the state is 160. He said that vaccination has already been going on and the situation is under control.
Samples were sent from across the ten blocks of the district. The report of Sarath and Palajori blocks has been found positive.
According to an expert Dr. Pankaj Kumar Sinha, M.V.S.C in charge of Pet clinic Deoghar, some precautions should be taken soon after getting symptoms in the cattle. He suggests that infected cattle should be isolated immediately and the surrounding should be kept clean.0
As the carrier or the medium of spreading this virus is mosquitos, the cattle should be kept out of their reach.
When asked if the milk of the infected cattle is healthy to drink, he categorically said that there is no problem in consuming it after boiling.
According to Dr Pankaj, when the virus crept into Rajsthan from Pakistan, it was summer season and the temperature of infected cattle’s body gets increased, so the fatality rate was high. But now the temperature in Santhal Pargana is comparatively moderate so cattle are safe.
