Daltonganj, April 13: A-30-year old Nepali identified as Lokendra Bahadur was stabbed by a lunatic at the Hariharganj market at 3 am on Wednesday.
He later succumbed to his injuries during treatment in a hospital in Bihar’s Sasaram district, said the officer-in-charge of the Hariharganj police station Sudama Kumar Das today.
The police officer said the Nepali guard was on his usual night duty at the Hariharganj market where a lunatic hit him in his belly with a sharp weapon and fled from the scene.
The police patrol team took the guard to the community health centre in Hariharganj for first aid. He was then referred to Bihar’s Aurangabad district hospital.
The doctors in Bihar’s Aurangabad again referred him to Sasaram where he was admitted to the Narayan medical college (Jamuhar) hospital but he could not survive the injuries and died while undergoing treatment.
The deceased was a resident of Nara in Nepal which is close to Bihar’s Motihari district. Family members of the deceased have been informed and are said to be reaching Sasaram to take the body. The body will be handed over after Narayan medical college (Jamuhar) would do the autopsy of the deceased.
The police officer further said, “Our real worry is the lunatic who has gone into hiding. We want to catch him first so that he may not harm other people.”
