Mumbai, Aug 8: The long-awaited cabinet expansion of Maharashtra’s Eknath Shinde administration is likely to take place on Tuesday. According to the sources, the cabinet expansion will take place in the legislature’s Central Hall.
Since June 30, the Maharashtra cabinet has only had two members in it. Fadnavis and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde were both in Delhi over the weekend because Shinde attended the NITI Aayog meeting with 22 other chief ministers.
On June 30, Shinde rebelled against their leader, Uddhav Thackeray, and assumed control of the top position. The Shiv Sena chief had quit the previous day after Shinde had spearheaded a significant uprising among Sena members in BJP-ruled Assam.
Recent visits to Delhi by Fadnavis and Shinde are apparently related to the cabinet expansion debate. According to sources from last week, the Maharashtra cabinet is expected to grow next week with the addition of up to 15 more ministers. The vital real estate portfolio might go to Fadnavis.
