Mahua Maji to Contest from Ranchi as JMM Candidate, Official Announcement Made

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has announced Mahua Maji as its candidate from Ranchi to contest against BJP's CP Singh.

Ranchi: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has officially declared Mahua Maji as its candidate for the Ranchi assembly seat. Mahua Maji, currently serving as a Rajya Sabha MP, is set to challenge BJP’s CP Singh in the upcoming election. Notably, Mahua Maji made history as the first woman from Jharkhand to become a Rajya Sabha member.

Earlier on Tuesday night, JMM released its first list of candidates for the assembly elections, which includes 35 names. Chief Minister Hemant Soren will contest from Barhait, while other prominent candidates include Kalpana Soren from Gandey, Basant Soren from Dumka, and Baby Devi from Dumri. JMM has announced that it will contest 41 of the 81 assembly seats, and Mahua Maji’s nomination from Ranchi completes the party’s lineup for the seat, which had not been declared earlier.
