Bokaro, Aug 27: A sudden fire broke out in the Blast Furnace 1 of Bokaro Steel Plant at around 10.30 am on Sunday. Many large equipments were burnt by the flames. This affected the production in the plant.
The fire was so dangerous that the personnel of BSL’s fire department had to struggle a lot to extinguish it. After about four hours of hard work, the fire could be controlled.
After the incident, there was chaos in the entire plant premises. The labourers and workers working there ran away. There is no information about any casualty.
The CISF personnel on duty informed the fire department about the incident. The fire brigade team immediately reached the spot and got involved in extinguishing the fire which was brought under control after about four hours of effort.
BSL’s head of communication Manikant Dhan said that the cause of the fire could not be ascertained yet. As soon as the information was received, many senior officers reached the plant. The management is busy assessing the damage caused by the fire. The technical team has started repairing the equipment burnt by the fire. The head of communication said that production would start from the blast furnace before the start of the night shift.
