Dumka, Dec.24: Speaking with the lover cost a married tribal lady her life as she was strangled to death by her husband in the wilderness at Dumka who later surrendered before the police.
The accused Shivdhan Hansda of Rampur village under Gopikandar police station of the district, who offered his surrender in the town police station last evening, stated that he killed his wife Sonamuni Hembrom (26) after being upset over her extra marital affair with a driver of Earthmover.
“Despite repeated warnings, my wife continued having the relationship with the driver in question. On Thursday morning I found her talking with someone over the phone. When I asked whom she was talking with, she didn’t reveal his identity making me furious enough to strangulate her to death in the nearby Odmo forest,” the cops quoted the accused to have stated who was later handed over to the Gopikandar police.
The accused instead of surrendering at the Gopikandar police station preferred to reach the district headquarter on a bus.
“For the place of occurrence falls in Gopikandar police station area, he was handed over to them for recovery of the dead body and further legal recourse,” the officer in-charge of the town police station Devbrat Poddar said adding the accused would be produced before the magistrate on Friday and forwarded to the jail.
