Man thrashed for refusing to drink alcohol, eat beef in Sahibganj

Ranchi, Jan 3: A man was allegedly beaten up by five people using sticks and stones in Radhanagar village in Jharkhand’s Sahibganj for refusing to consume alcohol and beef.

Chandan Ravidas, in his complaint, said that on New Year’s Eve he was thrashed by five men for refusing to eat red meat. He has accused Mithun Shaikh and four others of physical assault.

As per Chandan, he went to a shop at Pakinja Mor on Saturday night. When he went behind the shop, he found five people drinking and consuming cow’s meat. A heated argument broke out, following which the five men allegedly tried to force-feed him beef.

The accused took away Ravidas’ mobile and started pelting him with stones. They snatched away Rs 8,000 from Ravidas following the thrashing, as per the police complaint. When Chandan Ravidas resisted, he was allegedly stripped naked.

Radhanagar police station SI Rakesh Kumar told India Today that a complaint has been received and an investigation is underway.
