New Delhi, June 7: The man who pretended to be a fan and snapped a selfie with deceased Punjabi musician Sidhu Moose Wala is one of eight persons detained for assisting the artist’s killers. The accused were apprehended for providing logistical support, conducting reconnaissance, and harbouring the singer’s assassins.
Unidentified assailants shot and killed Sidhu Moose Wala, who left his home at 4:30 p.m. on May 29 with two others — his neighbour Gurwinder Singh and cousin Gurpreet Singh. He was in the driver’s seat of his Mahindra Thar.
Four shooters were also recognised by police as being involved in the crime. Sandeep Singh, alias Kekda, of Sirsa, Haryana; Manpreet Singh, alias Manna, of Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda; and Manpreet Bhau of Dhaipai, Faridkot, have been detained.
Saraj Mintu of Amritsar’s Dode Kalsia village; Prabhdeep Sidhu, alias Pabbi, of Takhat-Mall, Haryana; Monu Dagar of Sonipat’s Rewli village; and Pawan Bishnoi and Naseeb, both of Fatehabad, Haryana, have all been arrested.
Sandeep alias Kekda, under the orders of Goldy Brar and Sachin Thapan, had maintained a close eye on the singer’s activities by disguising himself as a fan, according to Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Anti-Gangster Task Force Parmod Ban on Tuesday.
“Kekda has shared all the inputs like the fact that the singer was not accompanied by his security personnel, the number of occupants, vehicle details and that he was travelling in a non-bullet-proof Mahindra Thar, with the shooters and handlers operating from abroad,” said ADGP Ban.
