Jamshedpur, Nov 16: Administration has sealed a four-storeyed building located along the NH-33 in Mango after it tilted to one side, resulting in a situation of imminent danger.
Sealing up of the building was done by Mango municipal corporation (MNC) on Wednesday after it was evacuated as soon as the complication developed on Tuesday night.
The building which accommodated Kaushal Vikas Kendra’s Mango unit is located just beside Citi Inn Hotel at Pardih and was built over two decades ago.
Dhalbhum sub-divisional officer, Piyush Sinha said the complaint about the building’s tilt came from the management of the Kaushal Vikas Kendra last night.
“As soon as we got the complaint about the tilt, we carried out an inspection immediately. Soon after we evacuated the students and all others from the building so that nothing untoward may take place. Today we have sealed the building for further investigation, ” said Sinha while talking to lagatar24.com.
The Dhalbhum SDO said there are possibilities of some structural defects in the building which can be determined by the experts in the relevant department.
“We are consulting with both the government as well as private professionals having the expertise to find out the exact cause behind the tilting of the building. Once the reason behind the complication is detected precisely, then only the necessary step will be taken, ” said the SDO.
Meanwhile, Binod Singh, owner of the building in question, has claimed that major digging work carried out recently for the expansion of NH-33 might have caused the displacement of underground rocks leading to the building getting tilted.
Singh who is also the owner of the landmark Citi Inn Hotel has also claimed that the foundation of the building was on strong footing.
