New Delhi, Nov 16: In order to allay concerns about Glenn Maxwell’s availability for the IPL 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore head coach Mike Hesson stated on Wednesday that the team understood that the Australian all-rounder will be fit and prepared to play well before the start of the new season next year.
Following Australia’s T20 World Cup 2022 campaign, Maxwell sustained a strange injury that forced him out of action for at least three months.
While attending a friend’s birthday celebration, Glenn Maxwell shattered his leg. Maxwell was running in the house’s backyard when he shattered his left fibula. The forthcoming ODI series between Australia and England will be Maxwell’s last. The Big Bash League will also be missed by him.
“There is a little concern with Glenn Maxwell, heading to the retention phase with a broken leg. We wish him a speedy recovery. We have information that he will be back well before the IPL (next year)`nad playing cricket. Having that three dimensional player in our squad is pretty critical in terms of balancing that squad out,” Hesson said in a video shared by RCB.
The RCB needed Maxwell’s three-dimensional firepower for the 2023 season, however Hesson expressed optimism for a quick recovery.
Glenn Maxwell has been an important part of the RCB team since he joined them before the IPL in 2021. He was retained by the former champions for Rs 11 crore as a result of his bat-related accomplishments in the 2021 season.
Hesson stated that the top order, which includes captain Faf du Plessis, former captain Virat Kohli, Finn Allen, and Rajat Patidar, is happy for the RCB.
