Visakhapatnam: A significant fire broke out in three coaches of the Korba Express at platform number 4 of Visakhapatnam railway station early Sunday morning. The incident involved the M1, B7, and B6 bogies, all of which are air-conditioned coaches.
The fire was first noticed when a few passengers spotted smoke emanating from the B7 coach and promptly alerted railway authorities. Quick to respond, railway officials and fire brigade personnel rushed to the scene to tackle the blaze.
Thanks to the swift and efficient action by the Railway fire brigade, the fire was contained, and a major tragedy was averted. According to railway officials, no lives were lost in the incident.
The Korba Express had arrived at Visakhapatnam from Korba at 6:30 am and was scheduled to move to the depot at 9:45 am. The fire caused significant panic among passengers at the station, but the situation was brought under control after several hours of firefighting efforts.
Railway authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and ensuring all safety protocols are followed to prevent such incidents in the future.
