Dhanbad, Aug 9: A total of 379 candidates out of 415 MBBS seats took admission in the Jharkhand government owned five medical colleges after the completion of the first counselling which concluded in the late evening of Tuesday.
Now, only 36 MBBS seats are vacant under the state quota.
The Jharkhand government owned five medical colleges have a total of 500 MBBS seats (100 MBBS seats each) in which all India quota has 15% seats reserved. Two seats are reserved for the central government nominees in each institution.
The state has 415 MBBS seats (83 seats in each college) to take admission through the JCECEB.
After completion of the first counselling, a health department official said the highest 80 students out of 83 took admission at Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) Hazaribagh followed by 77 at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad.
Besides them, 75 students took admission at Phulo Jhano Medical College Hospital (PJMCH) Dumka, 74 students at Medinirai Medical College Hospital (MMCH) Palamu and 73 candidates at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) Jamshedpur.
The first round of counselling for the state quota was conducted from August 6 to 8. SBMCH Hazaribagh principal Dr SK Singh said that all the listed 83 students turned up for admission in which 80 of them were enrolled.
“The papers of three candidates were incomplete. So they returned. They may come again in the second counselling,” he said,
At SNMMCH Dhanbad, the admission process was continued till 10 pm. Admission in-charge Dr Ganesh Kumar said 81 students turned up for admission in three days. 77 of them were enrolled while four of them including three of handicapped quota returned back due to lack of proper documents.
A total of 75 candidates out of 83 took admission in the first counselling at PJMCH Dumka. Principal Dr Arun Kumar Choudhary said that on the basis of the JCECEB list, 78 candidates arrived for admission. Three students have incomplete documents. So their admission could not be completed.
At MMCH Palamu, 74 students out of 83 took admission in the first counselling. Admission in-charge Dr Atul Prakash said 75 candidates turned up. One candidate had incomplete documents. “I hope in the second counselling all seats would be filled up,” said Dr Prakash.
MGMMCH Jamshedpur principal Dr KN Singh said that 73 students turned up and all took admission. The figure would be changed in the second counselling when some students would go in upgradation.
