New Delhi, June, 7: Members of the Manipur’s Kuki community protested the ongoing violence in the northeastern state on Wednesday in front of the residence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, police stated.

They claimed that the demonstrators were chanting slogans and brandishing signs that read, “Save Kuki Lives.”

Four protestors were permitted to assemble at the home minister’s mansion, according to the police, while the remaining protesters were relocated to Jantar Mantar.

Ethnic conflict in Manipur began a month ago, and since then, at least 98 people have died and 310 more have been injured. The state currently has 272 relief camps housing a total of 37,450 people.

After a “Tribal Solidarity March” was arranged throughout the hill districts to protest against the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status, violence initially broke out in Manipur on May 3.
