Jamshedpur, Aug 27: A 28-year-old youth was shot dead by three criminals at Gurudwara Bustee under the Mango thana area late on Saturday night.
Identified as Pankaj Kumar Yadav, the murder victim was sitting along with two of his friends near his cowshed close to Subarnarekha river in the night when the gunshot attack took place.
One of the three attackers had shot Pankaj in his head from close range causing him to fall down. The three had subsequently fled the scene, shouting that anyone daring to give an eyewitness account, would have to face dire consequences.
The two friends who were present at the crime scene soon rushed the victim to the MGM Medical College Hospital from where he was shifted to Tata Main Hospital as his condition was extremely critical. But on reaching the Tata Main Hospital, the doctors on emergency duty declared him as brought dead.
The police said the murder of Pankaj Yadav was the outcome of an old enmity.
“Those who attacked Pankaj Yadav are yet to be identified, but the way he was attacked suggests it is an outcome of old enmity. We are hopeful that the case will be solved soon, ” said Mango thana OC, Vinay Kumar while talking to lagatar24.com.
One of the two friends of the murder victim is learned to have revealed before the police that two of the attackers were of short height whereas the third one was a tall guy.
Pankaj who was a resident of Mango would earn a living by running a milk business. He had set up a small dairy having kept three-four cows in a shed along the Subarnarekha river. He would earn money by selling milk and other dairy products.
According to police, Pankaj Yadav also had a dubious background as he had been arrested for possessing firearms a year ago.
