Jamshedpur, Sept 3 : Acting on a tip-off, a team of Excise department officials and local police on Friday unearthed a mini illicit liquor manufacturing unit at Kalindi Bustee, a slum in densely populated Bhuiyandih locality of the city, which falls under Sitaramdera thana area.
The illicit liquor business was being run from a rented house.
The team arrested the house owner Manoj Singh who was part of the racket, while other members managed to escape.
During the raid, the team seized 650 litres of illicit liquor kept in drums. Colours were found in the liquor.
Around 20 litres of the spirit used for making illicit liquor was also seized apart from different Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) labels, corks, sealing machines and various kinds of colouring materials.
“When we raided the place, we found a middle-age man alone there. After interrogating him, identified as Manoj Singh, we got to know that the house belonged to him. We took him into custody. Raids were on to nab other members involved in the illicit liquor trade,” said an excise official.
