Ranchi, Jan.21: A PIL demanding a CBI probe into the suicide of sub-inspector Lalji Yadav was filed at the Jharkhand High Court.

A Ranchi resident Anuranjan Ashok has filed the petition. The list of respondents in the petition includes the name of state minister Mithilesh Thakur and Superintendent of Police of Palamu besides Veenu Thakur (brother of Mithilesh Thakur), DTO and SDPO.

The petitioner apart from the CBI probe has also urged the court to assess the property of the respondents.

The petition mentions that after relatives of Yadav filed a criminal writ petition in the high court and registered an FIR in the matter, they are getting regular threatening calls and are being pressured to withdraw the case.

The petition suggests reason behind the suicide is Yadav’s attempt to save coal and other minerals from loot.

The 2012 batch sub inspector had committed suicide on January 10 in Palamu’s Nawa Bazar. The incident took place four days after SP Chandan Sinha suspended him  from the post of Nawa Bazar police station following allegations of misbehaviour against the latter with DTO.
