Gurmeet Singh’s big-screen adaptation of the popular web series “Mirzapur” has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark at the domestic box office within two weeks of its release, holding steady despite a dip in collections during its second week.
Steady Run in Week Two
According to trade website Sacnilk, “Mirzapur: The Movie” collected Rs 3.39 crore net in India on Thursday, taking its domestic total to Rs 202.84 crore, with an occupancy of 16 percent across 6,925 shows. The film had brought in Rs 3.75 crore the previous day. It had opened to a stellar Rs 148.45 crore net in its first week, becoming one of the year’s highest-grossing Bollywood releases, before slowing down in week two with Rs 9.20 crore, Rs 13.50 crore and Rs 13.25 crore on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday respectively, and holding at Rs 5.50 crore each on Monday and Tuesday.
Eyeing the Next Milestone
The film, starring Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi and Divyenndu, along with Ravi Kishan and others, now has its sights on overtaking the collections of “Hanuman Ansh,” which brought in Rs 237.13 crore net in India. Directed by Gurmeet Singh in his feature debut and written by Puneet Krishna, “Mirzapur: The Movie” is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment.
