New Delhi, Aug 19: The Congress stated on Friday that the constant misuse of agencies against political opponents damages their credibility and provides a path for the corrupt to escape punishment.

The honest end up paying the price in such proceedings, according to Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera, shortly after CBI raids were carried out at the residence of Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

“The flip side to relentless misuse of agencies against political rivals is that even legitimate, rightful actions of agencies come under a cloud of suspicion. In the process, the corrupt get away hiding behind the ‘misuse’ argument and the honest end up paying the price,” Khera said on Twitter.

Manish Sisodia’s home was searched by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in relation to the controversy over the excise policy today. Additionally, searches are being carried out in six additional states and 21 locations around the National Capital Region (NCR) including premises of the then Delhi Excise Commissioner Arava Gopi Krishna.
