Monsoon Becomes Active in Jharkhand, Ranchi Records Highest Rainfall, Yellow Alert for Thunderstorms and Strong Winds

Ranchi: The southwest monsoon has officially arrived in Jharkhand, with the Meteorological Department stating that it has already reached several parts of the state and is expected to spread across the entire region within the next four to five days.

Ranchi Records Highest Rainfall in 24 Hours

Over the past 24 hours, several districts recorded light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder. The highest rainfall of 86.4 mm was recorded at the Birsa Agricultural University area in Kanke, Ranchi. Other significant rainfall figures included 48.4 mm in Namkum, 40 mm in Ramgarh, 37.4 mm at Ranchi Airport, and 34 mm in Khalari.

Yellow Alert for June 15 and 16

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for most districts of the state for June 15 and 16, warning of thunder, lightning, and strong winds of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour. Residents in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Gumla, Khunti, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Lohardaga, Chaibasa, Seraikela, Simdega, Deoghar, Dumka, Giridih, Godda, Jamtara, Pakur, and Sahibganj have been advised to remain alert. However, no special warning for strong winds or lightning has currently been issued for Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, and Latehar districts.

Ranchi Weather Forecast

The impact of the monsoon is clearly visible in Ranchi and surrounding areas, with partly cloudy skies and thunder-accompanied rain expected today. The maximum temperature is forecast at 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 23 degrees Celsius.

Intermittent Rain Likely Until June 21

According to the Meteorological Department, cloudy skies and intermittent rainfall are expected to continue across Ranchi and several parts of the state from June 17 to 21. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature is likely to rise by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next three days, though light to moderate rain is expected to persist across most districts.
